Bring Balance to your Home
Understanding your Qi flow is like tuning an instrument—when it’s in harmony, everything sings.
Every home holds a unique energetic blueprint that influences your mood, focus, relationships, and even your success. Through time-tested Feng Shui principles, you can uncover how each corner of your space either supports—or hinders—your goals.
Whether you're seeking more clarity, peace, abundance, or motivation, aligning your home’s energy with natural cosmic rhythms can make a powerful difference.
Let’s take a closer look at your home’s facing direction, and discover what energies flow through it—and how you can tap into them.

1. Start by finding the center of your space
Finding the center of your home isn’t just the first step—it’s the foundation of all Feng Shui analysis. This central point serves as the anchor from which you divide your space into the eight cardinal and intercardinal directions: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and Northwest.
If you have a floor plan or blueprint, draw diagonal lines from opposite corners; where they cross is your center point. Another simple method is to measure the distance from the front to the back and side to side—where those two midpoints meet is the core of your home’s energy field. This central spot plays a powerful role in balancing all other areas around it.
The attached garage is not considered part of your main living space and should be excluded from the energy map. If certain areas like bay windows, balconies, or rooms are recessed or protruding, you can visually "square off" the floor plan to include them in the overall layout.
2. The facing of your space
There’s long been debate about which side of a home should be considered the “facing” direction. Some use the front door, others consider the side that receives the most sunlight thru windows, and some even choose the balcony or back door—especially if it overlooks something significant like a lake. The truth is, your own experience matters most. Which entrance do you and your guests use most often? Where does the energy naturally flow in and out? The area with the most movement, activity, or visual openness usually reveals the true facing direction. Trust your instincts and how you interact with the space daily.
To find your home’s facing direction, stand inside the space, looking out through the main door, balcony, or the side you believe is most active. Hold a compass or a compass app on your phone at waist level, and take the reading while facing outward. The direction shown on your device is the facing direction of your home—an essential reference point for aligning the energy of your space.
🌐 Compass Degrees and Feng Shui Directions
Direction Degree Range
North (N) 337.5° – 22.5°
Northeast (NE) 22.5° – 67.5°
East (E) 67.5° – 112.5°
Southeast (SE) 112.5° – 157.5°
South (S) 157.5° – 202.5°
Southwest (SW) 202.5° – 247.5°
West (W) 247.5° – 292.5°
Northwest (NW) 292.5° – 337.5°
3. Connect the center point with the center of the facing point
Once you’ve located the center of your home and identified the facing direction, draw a straight line connecting these two points—the center of the space and the spot where you stood to measure the facing direction. This line sets the orientation for your 360-degree compass layout.
Using the compass degree from your measurement, align your Feng Shui compass (or Luo Pan) so that the facing direction matches the correct degree. From there, you can divide the space into the eight directional zones: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and Northwest. Each section corresponds to a unique type of energy and plays a role in shaping the harmony of your space.
If you’ve followed the earlier steps to discover your Gua name and Group number, you now know which directions are most supportive for you—and which are less favorable. These personal directions help you align your activities and living spaces in a way that enhances your energy, focus, relationships, and overall success. With your home now divided into eight sections based on its facing direction, you can begin to match your lucky directions to the areas you use most.
Use your space with intention:
-
Work or study in areas aligned with your Success or Growth direction to boost focus and productivity.
-
Sleep with your head pointing toward your Health or Stability direction for better rest and well-being.
-
Have important conversations, meditate, or host guests in the zone that supports Relationships or Harmony.
-
Avoid spending too much time in areas that align with your least favorable directions—use those spaces for storage or less critical activities.
Small changes in how you position yourself, arrange furniture, or choose rooms for certain activities can have a big impact when aligned with the flow of natural energy.
